🔔 CLIMACT closes on December 31, 2024

Created in 2021, CLIMACT will cease operations following UNIL and EPFL’s decision not to extend the collaboration.

While CLIMACT ends, other platforms like the Competence Centre in Sustainability (CCD), the Expertise Center for Climate Extremes (ECCE) continue the work. Support them!

The total magnitude of the warming from contrails is highly uncertain, but is approximately equal to the warming from all greenhouse gases emitted from every aircraft since the dawn of flight.

CLIMACT - Flying into the future: aviation's climate challenge

Climact

DID YOU KNOW ?

Aviation contributes about 3.5% to the current climate impact, even though it's responsible for only 2.4% of the world's yearly CO2 emissions.

COVID-19 only slightly delayed aviation's climate impact

Additionally, aviation emits non-CO2 pollutants like contrail clouds and NOx, which make up roughly two-thirds of its total climate impact, and this may change in the future.
