Still trying to finalise my 2023 top ten, but this somewhere in the top three. Also one of the top gigs of the year.

@acrmcr - 1982

The Fireman (Paul McCartney and Youth) - Electric Arguments

I really wasn’t sure about this combo but I found a copy in the wild and it’s pretty damn good, if a little disjointed. #vinyl

A couple of newish releases came in the post today:
- New Pornographers - Continue As A Guest
- Wilco - Cousin

Dad Rock night Chez Mac.

@timhimself …and that little tease of Dark Entries.
@DanielDeur My copy of Joy Division’s Atmosphere is the same. Looks black until you hold it up to a strong light, then it’s deep red. Now I need to go check my New Order 12”ers

Meh. He’s OK. 😉

Agree 100%. Here in the UK, we give a lot of credit to John Peel for bringing us music that we’d never heard before, but Andy Kershaw was the DJ who brought us Green On Red, The Long Ryders and a bunch more from all corners of the world.
@kennybrown131 @scotspostpunk @vinylrecords There were some great shows on Rock Goes To College. I still have this cassette of Green On Red, signed by Chuck Prophet 30 years after the broadcast.

Tonight’s first spin chosen indirectly by @scotspostpunk: U2 live at the Marquee 1980. This string of weekly gigs was the stuff of legends - from a handful of folks to sellouts with crowds outside in the street in only 4 or 5 weeks. SPP and I were each able to catch one of these and - whatever your opinion of U2 today is - they were objectively shit hot then.

Originally a fan club release, this was repressed as a 2 x 10” LP in 2015.

@Richard_Littler I’m very late to this party, just getting started on The Secret History and loving it so far.
