It seems I have too many social media accounts; more than I can manage, anyway. As I was already tapering off my activity at Twitter, I had to make a choice. And I think I'm going to be more active at BlueSky than here. So if you're there too, I'd be delighted to meet up.

@dunequotes

It's such a shame that this is a Dune quote. Because otherwise I would totally use it in the online description for my graduate programme in the History of Psychology

Theory and History of Psychology

Theory and History of Psychology studies psychology as a science, a discipline, and a profession. It's the only programme of its kind in Europe

It's like those who hear that the universe is infinite, and then believe there's another version of themselves somewhere making slightly different decisions. Because if "infinite" doesn't mean anything and everything is possible (or, indeed, actually happening off somewhere else beyond our ability to comprehend), then what does it mean?

Lots of talk this year about how faculty aren't able to ask their students to buy readings. For those who are panicked, please feel free to use my institution's research portal to find what you need. We're quite proud to be the leader in open access research. And although we are indeed a Dutch institution, much of our output is in English. Almost all of our publications are available for free. Just please give your students the direct link so it counts for our "impact."

May 1978. The Dept of Behavioral Sciences and Leadership at the United States Air Force Academy delivers a Department of Defense Intelligence Document about "Soviet Psychology." It is classified SECRET. My guess for the cause: "Mind in Society" was published March 7 - #HistPsych
Short story: I taught the upper division seminar on "Intelligence" in my psych dept in grad school & got a viciously sexist student eval from someone who was really angry that I criticized the idea of IQ and "taught too much history and arguments instead of science and answers". We talked about definitions of intelligence across different cultures and times and over the course of your lifetime and most people loved it! But even back then the backlash was wild just for saying "it's complicated"

The friendship between Kurt Gรถdel and Albert Einstein is relatively well-known by those in circles touched upon by either of their work

It is with zero chill that I announce that as of August 1, 2023, I will start a position as assistant professor at my alma mater, the @universityofgroningen!

It's a bittersweet thing though...As I take this awesome position, I vacate another, with a great team and institute, and a fun, important project on responsible research at @cwts.

On that note, if you know someone who's into community building and #RRI, get in touch! I love my current job and they might too!
