Google has news on what you will need to do for still being able to sideload apps:
* enable developer options
* confirm that you are not tricked
* restart phone and re-authenticate
* wait one day
* confirm with biometrics that you know what you are doing
* decide if you only want unrestricted installs for 1 week or forever
* confirm that you accept the risks
* enjoy the few apps that still have developers motivated to develop for a user-base willing to put up with this

The #FDroid website has a new banner on top to remind visitors that #Google did not change course and #Android will be locked-down in under 200 days.
If you care about the freedom to control your devices and care about the privacy of you data, please contact your representative and make your voice heard.
https://keepandroidopen.org/ (thanks @marcprux) has the resources to guide you.
We know users will rarely visit the site so the Client(s) will get a banner soon too.
Thank you for your support!
It could be fun to have a friendly competition where one team designed a Discord-a-like UX and interface, maybe using PenPot. Then a team from each protocol camp put together the apps and server using their preferred protocol. Reusing existing components would speed things up, like an AP team building the apps as clients for a fork of the Lemmy server.
Throw everything at the wall and see what sticks!

There’s something happening on the Web at the moment that almost feels like watching that old arcade game Space Invaders play out across our servers. Bots and scrapers marching in formation, attacking our servers wave after wave, systematically requesting page after page, relentlessly filling their data stores while we watch our access logs fill up.
Need a pairing buddy to help learn about/more about git? Git, a popular/commonly used source control tool for software development, can be a bit tricky to learn.
Maybe even some intro to programming? Maybe us pairing on a little project?
I would like to offer some live pairing if anyone is interested.
Free of charge, just wanting to share with someone who could use it. DM me if interested.
