I love the idea of Mastodon & independent servers, but I'm gravitating to BlueSky now. It's more intuitive for many, and therefore, is easier to build a network. I hope for improved integration between ActivityPub (Mastodon) and AT Protocol (Bluesky) in the future.

@mguhlin My hope is that this competition will get Google to up the game with regard to using generative AI on their Google Home devices since I've had them scattered throughout my house for years. Google Gemini has come to Google Assistant on phones but not Home devices I already have as far as I can tell. I (and family) use them at home via voice far more than I'll pickup my phone.
@garyfisk I realize I'm replying to a year-old post. However, I just found this while I was searching for an explanation of the GrammarlyDocumentID property. So, in case it's useful, I want to point out that you can now see this property in Word for Mac version 16.86 directly under File > Properties > Custom. (I don't know the status for Word for Windows or if this was possible a year ago in Word for Mac.)
Using Explain feature in #GitHub #Copilot on some code supplied by autocomplete has also shown me some new approaches. For example, I've become more comfortable with #python ranges and slices since I didn't use those in languages from my previous experience. I just completed "The Floor Will Be Lava" - Day 16 - https://adventofcode.com/2023/day/16 #AdventOfCode so no worries about me throwing off the leaderboard. 😀
Day 16 - Advent of Code 2023

Using #AdventOfCode 2023 problems this month to try out #GitHub #Copilot for first time. I have not give Copilot the text of a challenge, but since I infrequently use #python, GC's been a good "coach". Saved time looking up syntax via chat instead of ref guides. Autocomplete great for documenting as I code. Also, if I write pseudocode in comments to lay out my logic, it sometimes generates code I planned to write with me only pressing the tab key.
Last week Google announced Bard for Teens was available to personal accounts of users age 13 (in USA) to 18. https://blog.google/products/bard/google-bard-expansion-teens/ While it didn't explicitly say Workspace for Education was excluded, it doesn't appear to be available to those accounts for those under 18, and that could be useful for school. Anyone hear anything about it eventually coming to Workspace? #AiEducation #googleedu #bard

Hi all! I don't know if I have any teacher friends on here (though if not maybe you know teachers!) but I'm trying to collect questions about AI (especially ethical/social implications) from kids and teenagers that I can answer. I have a feeling they will have very good questions that everyone can learn from. :) So help me out and share this with someone who might be talking to kids about this stuff? #ai #teachers https://forms.gle/61g8iSYswEZtZZGe9

@educatoral "focus less on tools (the ‘how’) and more on ideas (the ‘what’ and ‘why’)" is good advice from the post. I strive to remember this whenever a teacher engages with me asking how to do something. Sometimes I need to just answer the how, but I generally start with asking what they are trying to accomplish, and, if I've previously built a good relationship, why they are trying to do that.
Peer Review idea presented in this @edutopia article is good. https://www.edutopia.org/article/who-should-evaluate-teachers However, one challenge is to provide full-time classroom teachers the time and bandwidth to do this. Whether it is for peer review or not, a teacher visiting another often benefits from the opportunity of seeing how a colleague practices the craft. #teaching
Who Should Evaluate Teachers?

Integrating peer review systems into teacher evaluations can lead to improved teacher effectiveness, academic achievement, and collaboration among colleagues.
