I wonder if people grew up in PS1/PS2 era like myself developed a quite fragmented way of understanding landscape.
Say, I'm entirely capable of tracing down a part of a town, let it be Melbourne or Brisbane or Beijing or Tokyo, however it's broken down in my head in a specific way. I can draw down accurate map of a patch of landscape of up to five blocks either way at say Federation Square, or a patch of landscape at State Library; but connecting the two needs extreme effort. Kind of like how you get from one area to another in FFVII.
More interestingly, I'm known to get lost at identical places in TWEWY, and real Shibuya.
