Hey all!
Want to know what's happening in the Australian AI regulatory landscape?

I just published a summary of the two new govt reports, with some opinions of course!

I'm organising a conference on ethics and impacts around LLMs and GAIs and it is looking EPIC.

28 April, 9am-5pm AEST (Sydney, Australia).

Stellar line-up of speakers. No hype, it's legit epic: check out website for snapshot.

IRL attendance sold out, but individual requests for a spot considered.

@JamesGleick Hilarious! Did you pass?
I can just see a whole gaggle of tech bros commuting to the office in SF donning these.
@ernie It is insane how easily people can be fired in the US. Glad to hear they are trying to change this.
@aBirdieOnaWire @futurebird @oemb1905 i did the same.as Wren. Havn't used a DM since. It is a function I miss.
“Much of the moral panic over “cancel culture” – which animated Musk to buy Twitter in the first place – is a reaction to the fact that traditionally marginalized groups gained technological means to affect the political debate.” https://www.theguardian.com/commentisfree/2022/dec/21/elon-musk-liberal-twitter-plans-benevolent
Elon Musk was never a liberal, and his plans for Twitter were never benevolent

Tech barons’ lip-service to democracy and pluralism was always conditional on preserving their own positions at the top

Merry Christmas from Ocean Grove, Australia!
May your 2023 be filled with the breeze on your face and nice grass to roll on!

@tess

What is impressive is that Musk has been consistently able to come up with new ways to exhibit his supreme idiocy and total lack of empathy, every single day for what 50 days (?) straight. For most, trying to come up with new ways to show the world you are both deficient in brain power and humanity with such consistency, would be a really challenging task. I guess it is these qualities of stupidity and psychopathy that set him apart from us.
