Yes, Private Eye is a UK-based satirical magazine. But when it matters, they often stop being funny and start telling it like it is. And in the current climate, this front-page splash was a brave move. ππ½

One of last night's three pizzas from among the best pizza places in this part of the country. We were sure it had shut down due to the pandemic, and then months of roadworks blocking access to their restraurant, but it turns out they'd just relocated and are now back in business! Yay!
Regular readers will know this household is obsessed with pizza. Not the overly doughy and cheese-laden American-style ones with pre-ordered bases covered in processed ingredients, but proper Italian (this place is Italian-run) freshly hand-stretched and stonebaked pizza.
A 5/5 establishment. π€€
Interesting article on how Kenya's president has been making overtures to the Africa Climate Summit positioning himself as a leader in transitioning the continent towards renewables.

Our cat now looks like a cross between a James Bond villian and something from Star Wars, and we can't stop laughing about it.

The worst part about the fedi, is the total lack of accountability for bizarre moderation decisions. This is the second time this has happened to me since November.
The Hubzilla account I was using as a blog host has been deleted without warning or explanation. Because Hubzilla has nomadic identity, it doesn't matter if a server goes down because you can just log in to another one. That's why I chose Hubzilla, to protect my content.
But even nomadic identity doesn't save you from an account deletion.
I've just sent an email to the admin.
I can't tell you how good it feels to have finally arrived - after a long period of illness - in a safe enough position to be a sarcastic bastard to the Vogons who back-office administrate for Universal Credit. π
#UK #UC #UniversalCredit Not sure what this very noisy American Chinook helicopter is doing flying over this residential estate in England - where there are no military bases for miles around - but there it is!
Bizarre. π€
Frank Herbert was a visionary. The reason all the technology is so strange in Dune, is that it's actually a post-Skynet world in which humans had freed themselves from enslavement...by destroying all the computers. "Humans had set those machines to usurp our sense of beauty, our necessary selfdom out of which we make living judgments," explains Leto II in God Emperor of Dune.
The Orange Catholic Bible (OCB), the key religious text in the Dune universe, forbids the creation of machines that imitate human thinking:
"Thou shalt not make a machine in the likeness of a man's mind."
We were going to get her a bed, only she's already chosen her spot and we're respecting her boundaries. When she's not sleeping on one of our laps, she's sleeping on this stair - the same one every time, so we guess it just has the right feng shui for her. π€·ββοΈ
