US representative Seth Moulton, a Democrat from Massachusetts, told MSNBC that he stands by comments he made to the New York Times about trans athletes in sports.
“Democrats spend way too much time trying not to offend anyone rather than being brutally honest about challenges many Americans face,” he said. “I have two little girls, I don’t want them getting run over on a playing field by a male or formerly male athlete, but as a Democrat, I’m supposed to be afraid to say that.”
Mate, the Dems didn’t lose because of trans athletes – they lost because they’re ignoring real issues like wages, housing, and wealth inequality. People are fed up watching the rich get richer while they’re struggling to get by. The real problem isn’t who’s on the playing field; it’s a system that’s robbing folks of a fair go.
And here’s the thing: you can do both. You can support trans people and fight wealth inequality. What worries me is that this scapegoating will only hurt the LGBTI community and might spread to left-leaning parties everywhere, tempting them to drop real social justice for empty distractions. If the left wants to win, they’ve got to stop pandering to corporations and Billionaires and get back to fighting for working people.
