How can regional policy strengthen place attachment and the place identity of inhabitants in old industrial and other less developed regions? I and @Judith_Terstriep explore this question in our new article just published in European Planning Studies. We propose that place-based policies should target not only at local economic development but also include an explicit people-centred perspective.

The #AcademyForTerritorialDevelopment in the Leibniz Association #ARL together with the #IATInstitute organised a conference on #UrbanManufacturing and the #ProductiveCity taking place today. We discuss how planning
- can support urban manufacturing ,
- implement solutions to support mixed-uses in cities,
- and how it could hinder #IndustrialGentrification.
#SabineBaumgart, president of the #ARL welcomes the participants.

We are here to attent the #RSAWinter conference starting tomorrow.
Some pictures for you from Cologne, Brussels and London I took today ...
I am preparing my presentation for the Regional Studies Winter Conference next week. @mariaaabreu and @calvjones cited in the slides 🙂 (and others).
Our study analyses the reach of a regional policy programme that addressed place attachment /regional identity of inhabitants in a 'left-behind' region (the Ruhr in GER). The paper is under review. Hopefully, it will be published soon!
