'One Iranian asylum seeker who fled because of his opposition to the government in Tehran, said: “My world, which I had hoped would light up again in this country, was plunged into darkness when I was transferred to a prison called Wethersfield.

“I was identified in Iran, I had to lock myself up in remote rural houses for a while, and now here I have exactly the same feeling and the same memories have come back to me. I am afraid that I will die in this place.”

Deadly experiment? UK asylum sites criticised for ‘horrific’ level of despair

Critics of the government’s mass housing plan say it won’t save public money and at worst put asylum seekers at risk of suicide

Looks like we all might be spending a heck of a lot more time here then.
The stock market is failing according to the CBI. So why don’t we just let it go?

I posted this on Twitter this morning: https://twitter.com/RichardJMurphy/status/1942861045426516103 My point is serious. The CBI is saying that the situation with regard to the UK stock exchange is getting desperate, because it is losing out to overseas markets and not attracting sufficient business. The question that needs to be asked is, why is that?...

Great to see even The Telegraph turn against Johnson for his lies and arrogance.

"To see him kicking and screaming about being made accountable is a revolting spectacle. It serves to remind us of why he should never have been in power, not why he should be again.

The kindest thing to say is that he believes his own lies.

Thank god, the rest of us no longer have to."

As usual, Boris Johnson believes he’s above the law

The utter self-belief that propelled him to power is now revealed as monstrous arrogance, and his clowning looks cheap and disrespectful

Hannah Arendt ("The Origins of Totalitarianism", p296) has

The #ToryParty has fully internalised the concept of:

"By whatever means necessary."

That's what:

1. Makes it, to date, the most successful political party IN THE WORLD;

2. Makes it so incredibly dangerous, as it's prepared to lie & decieve to win.

Bevan knew (pic).

IMO, There's only one way consistently to counteract/defeat that:

Swallow hard and do the same...by any means necessary.

When Ireland joined the EEC income per Head was 55% of then EU average. Today Irish income per head (GNI) is 37% higher than the United Kingdom’s.
Brexit actually emphatically confirms Ireland’s voluntary choice to be part of the European Union. But thanks for thinking of us. X https://twitter.com/CJCHowarth/status/1042854949426786305

Once upon a time there was a report written with some great thoughts on retention & recruitment in the #NHS

A letter was written asking for urgent attention

Sadly no one listened

But later ….

..the writer found himself in the place of power & still nothing
