@Lanceleoghauni I'm using Tusky and haven't noticed any problem.
@letienne Now as for bullying, it is very much real here in the USA. It takes many forms, from actual physical abuse to name calling to social harrassment either in person or online. I was exposed to all of those at one time or other throughout my years in school. Yes, even grad school and after. Much of it seems to be driven by a mental need for the bully to feel superior and to abuse those the bully considers or wishes were inferior. (outsiders, anyone different)

@letienne I have done all those tasks. Liberal arts is a good background for a general librarian, but a masters degree is usually required for training in reference, cataloging, and library administration tasks. Languages are often useful. I learned Greek, Latin, German, Sanskrit, Anglo-Saxon, Middle English, and some Irish as an undergrad and in grad school. French and a little Spanish in high school.
@letienne Librarians do a lot of things. They help readers find answers to questions or to locate materials (including those not in their own institution.) They select books and other materials to obtain and add to the collection. They catalog new materials and add them to the collection so they can be found and used. They plan education/entertainment programs and publicize them. They maintain computers and networks used in the library, make budgets, raise funds.
@Letienne Thanks. I think it worked. I'm moved to @Altivo now.
@letienne @Letienne I have to learn how to move mine. I was just invited to an instance more suited to me. I will address your bullying question as soon as I'm at a real keyboard. Allow me a couple of hours. 😉
@letienne Just books. Voices of thousands of authors, many of them long gone from this world. Language, poetry, philosophy, history. I studied several languages in order to read them, not speak them. Ancient Greek poetry is, well, magnificent. So is Anglo-Saxon. To stand in a library, to feel all those minds whispering around one... Yeah, I know. I'm weird in many ways.
@Soreth I think that fire is the seeds of greatness. Yes, it can burn us, but it also empowers us if we embrace it and use that energy.
@Soreth This is at the heart of my own nature too. Being a "misfit" is a terrible, crushing pressure in human society. But it can also create and engender greatness. So many artists, composers, performers, authors have been shaped (not "deformed") by this that humanity would be far less without it.
