It might seem a little silly but I wanted something to make my book less monotonous - give it some flair, so I thought using a rune font for chapter/section headings just might do that.
Hand-coding the glyphs in SVG using just a text editor, a calculator, and a browser.
Tedious but I can never figure out graphics programs but I do understand math and cubic Bézier curves so I don't need the graphics programs... :p

You might recognize the inspiration for these glyphs from the credits of a popular streaming TV show, but anyway, after I finish the normal-weight and am happy then I have to make the bold-weight, no Italics or Oblique. I plan to cover all of ISO-8559-1 and ISO-8859-15 and *maybe* Windows-1252 except I probably won't do ligatures in those sets, or vulgar fractions. We'll see.

I'm 25% of the way done with the 7-bit ASCII Latin characters for my custom font (but only 14% of all 7-bit ASCII printable character) for my fantasy fiction book chapter/section headings.
Once I have 7-bit ASCII covered, I can import into FontForge and play with it to see which glyphs need adjustment before I proceed with more glyphs.

Another difference, its reproduction has adapted to have far fewer eggs in a string, speculated as a counter-measure for the short-lived ephemeral streams where it breeds, so that oxygen levels do not get too low and ammonia levels do not get too high as the streams stop flowing and start to dry up.
The secretion of these toads tastes like fried onions with a hint of garlic and is hallucinogenic but causes vomiting if too much is licked.

The genus _Bufo_ will be used for fictitious species description because the date predates the moving of many North American toads into the genus _Anaxyrus_ so _Bufo_ is more appropriate for description.
The species morphologically very close to the Red-spotted Toad except the parotid gland is a vibrant blue as recent metamorphs, fading a bit into adulthood but still visible.
The species is also much faster on land than the Red-spotted Toad.
