I survived this semester: 14 h/week classes, 4 courses (2- 1st years), 4 conferences (☺️), hours of meetings (😞), 1 approved grant proposal, problems w students (not only students have problems w supervisors), 3 panels (one still to go), course to fire brigade, field work (😁). And of course: evising papes/projects from students, grading students, revising papers as editor/reviewer, writing proposals, coordinating projects, finding funds for students tprojects, replying to thousand emails.
Today, a female undergrad student approached and told me (in tears): thank you for being a great female scientist. We need more female scientists. The world is too cruel to us women, seeing you gives me hope that I can do it too. I cried. How long do we have to fight?
Today the undergraduate students presented their projects as posters! I was so proud of them!!! Well done guys!

A friend sent me the list of the Most Cited Scientists 2021. Guess what? Among Brazilian ecologists, ONLY 21% were women. ALL of them were from São Paulo, Minas Gerais or Brasília. We still have a long way to change this in Ecology and Science in Brazil.
#WomenInstem #FemaleEcologists #ScienceInBrazil #WeCanDoItI will also introduce myself here!
#introduction I am a community ecologist from Brazil, who works with tropical grasslands and
#savannaecology and
#fireecology . In Brazil, I’ve been studying fire effects on plant communities in Southern Brazilian Campos and the
#Cerrado. I also look at the belowground world: belowground storage organs, roots, bud bank and carbon! Finally, we do lots of cool experiments with seeds as well!
