All data and code available on zenodo (https://doi.org/10.5281/zenodo.15828518) and on my GitHub account. #opendata #openscience
Thanks @benmarwick ‬for the possibility to learn from reproducing your work and for providing the basis for this replication, which are unfortunately excessively rare in #Archaeology!
Marwick (2025) "Is archaeology a science?": reproducibility for training and replication with OpenAlex for testing.

The zip file contains the necessary files and folders to reproduce the preprint deposited on SocArXiv and which can also be read in a more interactive way with code chunks and interactive table of content here: https://aqueff.github.io/replication_Marwick2025_OpenAlex/. The code and data are also accessible on GitHub for forking or issues posting: https://github.com/AQueff/replication_Marwick2025_OpenAlex.

And how do journals compare? I find the same kind of results as Marwick (2025), but the list of journal is rather different. "Harder" journals are Conservation/Museum artifacts studies journals. "Softer" journals are review journals.
How does https://openalex.org/ compares with Web of Science? @OpenAlex (which is free and #opensource) has MUCH more data, but apparently a bit less curated yet. Will improve for sure thanks to public institutions now supporting the project!
New #preprint online: Reproduction and replication of @benmarwick (2025), with data from @OpenAlex Accessible as interactive html version: https://aqueff.github.io/replication_Marwick2025_OpenAlex/
and more traditional manuscript with doi here: https://doi.org/10.31235/osf.io/97a6q_v1
Is #archaeology a hard or soft science?
The DAFNEE database of academia-friendly journals is now using @OpenAlex instead of PubMed to find your papers for the author index.
That's great especially for #archaeology since most are not indexed in PubMed.

🚨 Join the PACEA Laboratory! The @cnrs is recruiting a senior postdoc (3 to 6-year contract) to work on Pleistocene and Holocene paleoenvironments. This is part of a long-term strategy and may lead to a permanent full-time research position!!
