Google Chrome silently installs a 4 GB AI model on your device https://www.thatprivacyguy.com/blog/chrome-silent-nano-install/

That is the true definition of malware.

Google Chrome is downloading a 4 GB Gemini Nano model onto users' machines without consent, with no opt-in, no opt-out short of enterprise tooling, and an automatic re-download every time the user deletes it. The pattern is identical to the Anthropic Claude Desktop case I wrote about last month, but the scale is between two and three orders of magnitude larger. This article does the legal analysis and, for the first time, the environmental analysis. The numbers are not small.
When I did some reading on the current situation, I found a lot of sites out of Australia that were repeating this "base load" idea, in the context of nuclear power.
I suspect that this is fossil-fuel propaganda.
Fossil fuel companies love promoting nuclear power because they know it takes decades to get a reactor built (if it gets built at all), and in the meantime, everyone keeps using fossil fuels.
It's the perfect way to cripple renewables without being obvious about it.

A more independent Europe means homegrown, affordable, and reliable energy.
โก So far: renewables and nuclear energy already make up over 70% of our electricity generation.
๐ Next: we are accelerating grid connections and storage so no clean power goes to waste.
๐ The future: we are launching a new electrification strategy this summer to make Europe more independent.
We are moving away from expensive fossil fuels and toward a system that works for our people and the planet.
Just realized that here in London, I can say โI took the lift up to my flat after removing the items from the bootโ and people are going to understand me
I also look forward to standing in a queue, and throwing away my rubbish
In the afternoon, I shall have some biscuits
Our rain water tank has a bird's bath underneath the tap because it leaks. This issue has become an important feature. The constant slow dripping of the tap supplies the bird's bath with fresh water. As a result birds, mostly house sparrows, use it as their drinking spot. It is quite literally their water cooler / coffee corner & you can see them chatting, eating & gossiping around it. It's a lovely thing to observe & great to start the morning with.
A leaked transcript reveals Viktor Orban eagerly offering to assist Vladimir Putin, comparing himself to a helpful "mouse" serving the Russian "lion." During the call, the two leaders praised Donald Trump and discussed a failed plan to host a US-Russia summit in Budapest. This stark evidence of close coordination with the Kremlin emerges just days before a highly competitive national election, intensifying scrutiny over Orban's continued obstruction of EU aid to Ukraine.
