Hi, I'm stuck waiting on laundry to finish and am bored, so why don't I come on here and write some hot takes about YouTube?
I mean, I can think of several reasons, but too bad I'll do it anyway.
Knowing the leanings of the folks on this particular platform this is likely to spark some debate, but note that I'm not trying to paint YouTube as a saint - in fact, the first thing I want to talk about is a strategy they've taken which puts me and all YT creators in a weird place:
It's not like I didn't know full well that it was gonna happen, but boy howdy is saying any nice thing about Large Internet Company on Mastodon quite the exercise.
I'm just another noodle on the internet - what do I know?
But perhaps if any mention of a mainstream anything invites You're Doing it Wrong and you Should Feel Bad About Your Opinions as responses by default... maybe this place isn't so fun.
“Bricolage | Some notes on Local-First Development”
I think Local-First is going to be an essential option for web development, but you can tell that devs have already given wholesale into their worst instincts towards hyper-complexity. https://bricolage.io/some-notes-on-local-first-development/
I think about this slide every now and then

If you finally found the solution to your coding problem in a deep comment or something after having dozens of tabs open, you should write about it in your own blog.
Really. Describe the problem in your own words and the solution for it, even if the solution seems really obvious now. Doesn’t matter. Give credit and whatever, but use your own words because you will be surprised at how many people will land on it.
Write the blog post you wish you had found.
The abandoned Army/Navy Hospital, Hot Springs, AR.
Just wonderful. This thing looks like it should have a starring role in a Ghostbusters film.
