I was reading some of the shit the Apollo app devs had to deal with when engaging with Reddit, and found myself thinking about back when I was building Python-based Twitterbots for fun. Like, as much as it sucks that these companies are slowly in the process of monetizing what used to be a fun, commonly-shared software/internet sandbox, it’s entirely unsurprising.

But it sucks, though. It sucks for the devs who treated these hobbies as a passion project that became tools used by millions.
