🔬 🚨 Just 1 week left to apply to #IALSJanelia, @AICjanelia 's two-week long #microscopy bootcamp covering everything from #experimentalDesign to #imaging to #bioimageAnalysis
Read more and apply by Feb 15 here: https://www.aicjanelia.org/imagingacrosslengthscales
My latest paper is now out in @J_Cell_Sci : https://journals.biologists.com/jcs/article/137/1/jcs261567/341218/Believing-is-seeing-the-deceptive-influence-of
Many thanks to my co-authors Leanna, Satya, Jesse, Leong, and to the entire @AICjanelia team for their feedback!
Every stage of a #microscopy project requires decisions, and those decisions are prone to #bias. In this paper, we use illustrative examples to describe potential pitfalls, and also provide strategies for mitigating bias.

Summary: Microscopy requires many decisions about experimental design, acquisition and analysis, and each choice is prone to human bias. We describe how each step must be carefully considered for scientific rigor.
Applications are open to anyone interested in understanding the full spectrum of optical imaging capabilities, including graduate students, postdocs, independent scientists, faculty and core facility managers. To be considered, applicants must justify their need to learn imaging on multiple modalities, expand on prior imaging experience, and explain their motivation for taking
Check out this fantastic post from Mai Rahmoon kicking off her ‘How they started…’ series on FocalPlane! Mai interviewed Teng-Leong Chew to discover the origins of @AICjanelia, Leong’s scientific journey and hopes for the future. https://focalplane.biologists.com/2023/07/21/how-it-they-started-with-the-advanced-imaging-center-aic/
