Apologies for the info dumping, I really wanted to help point you at a maybe not-obvious, less esoteric potential source of info than fellow doll collectors (doll fans would be the BEST resource for you because surely one or more of them have experimented with how to preserve and clean the dolls, but again possible language lock and non obvious locations). Most people who aren't in or peripheral to fiber arts aren't going to think of DIYers for advice re: fabric goods.

@ojou
Felt is a niche, IDK where that hobby is concentrated, so I'd suggest asking a general sewing or fiber arts group 1) how to best clean felt dolls, and 2) of they don't know, could they point you to a community or website that can help.

Might have luck on Mastodon in the #/fiberart, #/fiberarts, #/knitting etc tags, but you might be directed to Facebook or even Reddit or maybe a discussion forum.

@ojou
I know how American demographics work in terms of social media so I generally know where to find people. Fabric arts tends to be very female and predominantly white and over 30 (knitting and/or crotchet has a broader age range bc relative low cost and little room needed), which means you're more likely to find quilters and seamstresses (I can't think of the gender neutral plural that isn't 'sewers' lol) on Facebook groups.
@ojou
Oh, I meant go look for arts and crafts people. Like groups of quilters or knitters that have felt adjacent interests or would know where you should go to find your answers. I'm sure felt doll fans also exist, but I suspect they're a very small niche group and may be language locked. Even when I was pretty fluent in Japanese navigating the Japanese web was a very alien experience.
@ojou
Additional thought: if you've got similar materials, less precious dolls you could patch-test various types Scotch guard/waterproofing etc to seal out dirt and grime. Again though, I would check with people who work with natural and artificial felt like the doll has (I think, looking from the image) before risking discoloration. Also might be worth considering those acrylic display cases people use to keep dust off their figurines?
