Meta’s Facebook and Instagram are drawing criticism for blurring, blocking or removing two abortion pill providers’ posts, which has become more evident in recent days and is another escalation of the company’s rightward swing as President Donald Trump returned to the White House. Several abortion p...

FYI, via Lawrence Tribe:

"It is not necessary for the Nat Archivist to publish #ERA in order for it to be adopted according to the provisions of Constitution. The President avoided triggering a clash w Archivist, who recently announced her intention to defy her statutory, & purely ministerial, duty to publish the ERA. The only reason Congress gave the Archivist such a duty nearly a century ago was to ensure that the Nation got word that an amendment was in force..."

The media needs to show how the climate crisis is fueling the LA wildfires

With few exceptions, the news has shied away from showing how the unfolding climate crisis plays a large role in the disaster

The Guardian

A political party that celebrates shooters like Kyle Rittenhouse and whose leaders frequently post self-portraits with semi-automatic weapons suddenly has thoughts against political violence.

Republicans created this climate and promoted the gun that was used. They don't get to blame others, especially when the alleged shooter was a member of their party.

Of all the places I’d never expect journalism to suddenly erupt, People Magazine would lead the list. This is just extraordinary. Maybe the @nytimes will rival it someday. Dream on.

Project 2025 Exposed . . . in People Magazine

The widely-read, iconic magazine of pop and celebrity culture delivers an excellent warning about the Christian nationalism of Project 2025. Is it a breakthrough?

Trump says he's fine. Good. Now, let's talk about political violence in America.

FACT: Since 2015 there's been no greater promoter of political violence in America than Donald Trump. Here are the receipts that legacy media needs to publicize widely: https://qasimrashid.substack.com/p/yes-political-violence-is-unacceptable

Yes Political Violence Is Unacceptable

But do MAGAs actually believe that?

Let's Address This with Qasim Rashid

Sounds like now a US president can set up official death camps with immunity in their courts. Oh, and testimony of his facilitators and cronies can't be used against them in any charges that can be levied.

#Journalists should pay close attention before normalizing and both-sidesing the current situation, as they're among the first people typically rounded up as fascism takes hold.

Today I learned something cool about basketball history! Lithuania became independent from the Soviet Union in 1990, and thus had to finance their own Olympic basketball team for Barcelona 1992. Without enough money, they wouldn’t have had the airfare or uniforms or equipment to compete.

The Grateful Dead became their biggest financier, and as a result the Lithuania team wore tie-dye gear during warmups throughout the tournament. Lithuania did pretty well—remember Arvydas Sabonis?—and won the bronze medal, and they accepted that medal in their Grateful Dead-inspired tie-dye gear!
