Takeaway from my daily meditations:

Honesty > being right
Humility > being admired
Responsible > being “successful”

This is actually false, New York Times. Ex-presidents have never been “shielded from indictment.” There is no “taboo.”

Ex-presidents have always been subject to prosecution for their crimes. Vice-presidents, state governors, and congressmen have all been indicted and even imprisoned.

Only one thing is new here: an incorrigible career criminal became president.

Trump Indictment, a First for a U.S. President, Tests Democracy

For more than two centuries, American presidents were effectively shielded from indictment. But the case against former President Donald J. Trump breaks that taboo and sets a new precedent.

The New York Times

“As a nation, we began by declaring that 'all men are created equal.' We now practically read it 'all men are created equal, except negroes.' When the Know-Nothings get control, it will read 'all men are created equal, except negroes, and foreigners, and Catholics.' When it comes to this I should prefer emigrating to some country where they make no pretense of loving liberty – to Russia, for instance, where despotism can be taken pure, and without the base alloy of hypocrisy”

One small step. This morning, had conversation w my 15yr old twin sons about trans kids at their school. I asked if they knew of them. We talked about how the trans community is under siege right now w propaganda. One son turned to me and said, “you don’t have to worry Mom, we are allies”, to which my other son agreed.

I do think small conversations like this can make a difference.

Written on February 8 (significant date), in photos that were all text, I am finally re-writing so the post is accessible to screen readers.
Julie H was a regular attendee of the Thursday Night AA Step meeting at a local church. I met her there during my first month of sobriety. In fact, those Thursday nights were the only times I ever saw her. When we met, she had over nine years of continuous sobriety.
The meeting was in the neighborhood where I grew up. There was a Tuesday night AA meeting in the same church basement. The Tuesday meeting was a topic meeting that regularly had more than three times as many attendees as the
Thursday group. On Tuesdays, I would see many people I knew from the neighborhood. Thursday’s group was mostly people with whom I would not ordinarily associate. I considered Thursday’s group my home group.
Julie was someone with whom my Mom might associate. She reminded me of a neighborhood mom, and she was about the same age as my parents.
As I do, Julie delighted in coincidences - like the one that helped convince her to get treatment for her alcoholism. “They had only one bed available, and

Have a great day!
