I don't have a "Happy, joyous, and free" type of sobriety, the Black Dog is always there watching, but it's pretty good for me, and not being sober would make it 1000 times worse.

I've changed so much in the last few years since rejoining my program. I went from being someone who never talked in meetings to just now realizing I'm leading 3 meetings.

And the crazy part is I can't say I love it, it's not my nature at all, but I don't hate it, and it's really good for me.

Many people seem to think that the major 12 step programs are religious programs, but they are not, they are spiritual programs explicitly not tied to a specific practice.

Don't let your assumptions stop you, or as it says "contempt prior to investigation".

Someone who shall remain anonymous was answering the hotline the other night in the middle of a new moon witchcraft ritual.

Today, I take 11 years of sobriety from alcohol. It has been an incredibly chaotic, demanding, and ultimately trying decade, a period that has tested my will and strength. PSA: If you, a non addict, end up with a group of addicts/alcoholics in recovery, in a social setting or ESPECIALLY in a recovery meeting, please do not take that opportunity to tell everyone how proud of them you are, or how brave everyone is, etc.

It's so cringey. Everyone is not going to be mad at you but some are certainly going to be rolling their eyes, and some are going to be say "Oh bless their heart".

It's weird that after decades of sobriety, years of which I wasn't involved with a group at all, I'm more into the program than I ever was.

It really is the easier softer way.
