also, open question, is it

#gameidev

or

#gamedeiv

or

#gamedeve

@sydneyfalk Hopefully #gamedev isn't toxic like # gaming, so there's no need for an alternate?

@Tak

XD

oh, I needed that laugh

that's a good one

@Tak

but seriously, imagine for a moment the Venn diagram of techbros and gamerfucks

then tell me there's some other place gamedevs by and large are from and/or influenced by

then tell me another story because we both know that the overlap is going to be ultratoxic and is likely why the "polite but shitty" dam of behavior seemed to break with GomerHate

no, but really, I can't imagine that somehow gamedevs are so special they're not toxic despite being in a toxic industry AND field

@Tak

(as a whole, obv, I'm not pointing fingers, I barely know any gamedevs and I only dream of actually finishing a game myself)

@sydneyfalk Agreed, the industry itself is, in the absolutely mildest terms, suboptimal.

But are people actually t(wee|oo)ting hostile stuff on #gamedev? Basically everything I see is "this is what I am thinking about making / making / have made."

@Tak

> are people actually

They're people, Levi. So far in my life, if you can imagine people will be willing to do a bad thing, they'll eventually start.

I hope it continues as usual, but it's human beings. We should prep for the worst. ;)
