I spent the evening working on notifications for the #onlinewritinglog - It's one of those things that really comes in handy when you're building an online app for a variety of reasons.#onlinewritingapp #amwriting #janwritingchallenge #turtlewriters

@TechieInAK Hey! I make an app called WordKeeperAlpha. I suppose technically we're "competitors" but fart-noise at that. I always like meeting people who had roughly the same idea I did but went at it differently.

What were your reasons for making #onlinewritinglog, if you don't mind me asking?

@writerSeth ah yeah! I've looked at your app. It's a great app, well executed.

It kind of ended up being an extension of an Excel spreadsheet tracker I made. And, I've been wanting to make one for years...the catalyst ended up being my discovery of the Bubble development platform. It simplified development tremendously. So, I figured, why not? I can make it the way I really want it with the benefit of feedback from other projects and writer friends. :) how about you?

@TechieInAK I loved how seeing my word counts graphed out during NaNoWriMo encouraged me to keep writing. Back then NaNo's graphs didn't stick around after November so I thought to myself: "Myself...you can make your own." So I did. :)

Now I like using it to practice and expand my skills with new stuff. I also like making my users happy when I push something out they've been looking for.

@writerSeth yeah, same here. Visuals are a powerful motivator.
@TechieInAK Indeed. I love making the graphs then seeing them work.
@writerSeth Exactly. The graphs is one aspect that I need to focus more on... I have some basic stuff there now but it's mostly placeholders. Some of the data structures are still a bit in flux so
@writerSeth another reason, I'm part of a month writing group so I'm always looking for ways to help others stay motivated and keep up with the Writing. The largest challenge is getting my own writing done :) Do you write as well?
@TechieInAK Not as much as I should...given that I made a whole app for writing motivation. But yeah :) Fantasy / sci-fi / steampunk. You?
@writerSeth awesome. Mostly scifi but fantasy is also high on the list. Most of my current stories and Works in progress are scifi though. That's where my mind wanders the most :)
@TechieInAK I like the look of OnlineWordLog btw. Front End Design is one of my weak points. :)
@writerSeth thanks. I used to do web design on a freelance basis before so it comes in handy. It still can use a lot of work. The responsive side, on mobile in particular, needs a lot of work. But, I figured it's better to get the core features done that works well on a desktop browser, then optimize from there.
@TechieInAK That's the path I took. WKA mostly works in mobile. ... mostly ... New features always lag behind a little bit. I do web-dev for my day job, but I'm primarily a back-end guy.
@writerSeth I do traffic trending and financial analysis for a telecom so I work with graphs quite a bit :)
@writerSeth OWL isn't pretty on mobile at the moment. It kind of works in landscape mode but it isn't pretty
