Have been playing the mobile version of this all weekend.

Decided to go PC

I uh, absolutely won't make a spreadsheet for this game

Damn, I wasn't prepared for this?

The mobile version doesn't let you name the train line

Kale Rail?

Kale-Line?

Tempted to call it CHOO CHOO MOTHERFUCKERS in honor of what @MachineLordZero would want
Ok, here we goooooo
The PC version has a maintenance mechanic, which the mobile version has stats for but didn't seem to be in place
I can de-fullscreen it too, and with auto-depart the game can basically become a nice little side-window thing to glance at
It has an option to 'hide flash effects' which is good for #accessibility
The mechanic/repair mechanic means you have stuff to do while you're on the track as well

Wait, there's no delay at all on the gumball machine on mobile?

Just roll em all up

Actually, there are no time outs at all so far
I've got a set of low tier cars, which is great. I've not seen the park car before, it's pretty nice
I'm willing to bet @worthlessbums would destroy the economy in this game
Blistering speed

So it mentions that the previous levelling mechanic, of smashing two similar cars together is replaced by 'waiting for them to gain experience' but then no visible gauge

... but later, it turns on, so that's fine

Overall the shift from freemium -> full paid pc game is pretty smooth
It does mean, however, you can't have duplicate cars, which is kinda a bummer tho?

The mobile version has a camera mode which I kinda miss.

Beginning to appreciate camera modes in games, tbh

I'd kinda like to see some weather? I think that'd really add to the atmosphere?

Like, some rainstorms you pass through, etc

Choo choo happy little train
GINGERBREAD TRAIN
'Hey Kale, how's that PC version of Tiny Rails goin?'

We're getting there.

I periodically ditch the main plotline just to go haul shit around a bit

I also left it 'idling' for a while (meaning the train just fucks around as much as it wants without stopping long at stations), but came back to find myself 3k in debt.

Oops

This guy is literally just wasted space.

Clearly in the mobile vers. he was there to extract gems from the player (or keep folks continually playing), but in PC it's like mate...

Sofia has tasks that are either broken ('get the train to X speed which won't be possible for ages') or ridiculously easy ('go 1000km') and clearly didn't scale
I've owned this game 24hrs
TOOT TOOT MOTHERFUCKER
I'm cruising on the west coast of the USA shipping chicken, lemons, oranges, micro chips and ore
Ok I'm in Canada and they have oil, baggage scales, asparagus and lumber

The accountant upgrades for 25k

He provides an extra 1% on passenger fares

... which is like, $20 per stop

Mate, your RoI is fucked

SNOW
Tiny Rails is assuming I know my North American geography, and I so very much do not

@DarkestKale Assuming 10 passengers a stop, that's 125 stops before you break even on that.

daaaaamn

@udell_games No, I mean 20 profit PER STOP TOTAL

@udell_games Like, a stop I might get 2k total income

So 1% of that...

@DarkestKale It does kinda feel like a lot of the assistant stuff isn't to helpful to me, although I'm on the mobile version, not steam so economy is likely different
@DarkestKale
Which is this?
@ryanlittlefield Tiny Rails
@DarkestKale
Would you recommend mobile over steam?

@ryanlittlefield Try the mobile first for its free-ness.

I'm on steam w/ it but started on the mobile version

@ryanlittlefield ... but yeah. Steam version doesn't have micro transactions
@DarkestKale I find dynamic, animating backgrounds one of the best ways to add atmosphere. Rain, falling leaves, snow, drifting fog, lapping water, all add so much life.
@DarkestKale Maybe having the ability to purchase duplicate cars without going through the RNG machine could be helpful to it
@RoseArtemis Yeah, it's something others have apparently pondered on the steam forum
