Hypothesis: Software would be way more efficient if all development happened on low- to mid-tier hardware.
@phryk This was the philosophy during the development of BeOS. The devs were only allowed to use a minimum-specced machine.

@foozmeat Any clue whether that philosophy carried over to Haiku as well?

I mean obviously you can't force devs using a certain spec of machine in a FOSS project, but did the sentiment survive?

@phryk I feel like that rule came down from JLG himself but I can't find a reference to it at the moment. I doubt its been carried forward. Who want's slow compiles 😜
