New folks coming through the door, please be aware there's an option to content-warning tag your toots and it's fucking beautiful
Also, hello, hi

Also to explain some concepts (as I see them):

Your HOME TIMELINE - is your toots + your friends toots + whatever they Boost (which is RTs)

Your LOCAL TIMELINE - is all the toots that are on your instance (server!)

Your FEDERATED TIMELINE - is all the toots that are on your federation (clump of instances)

Yes, you CAN talk to other people on other instances, but you need to address them in full, which includes their instance name

Like this, for one of my fav folks:

@linkedoranean

Also: Local timeline is gonna get hectic, and while the vibe is kinda nice now, expect it to be... hrmmm... maybe when the site increases - so apply mutes a lot
Also Also: when I got here yesterday people were putting politics/emotionally heavy stuff under content warnings and it was a lovely polite thing to do that I'd encourage thanks

@DarkestKale PEOPLE HERE SEEM IMMENSELY KIND SO FAR. I FEEL WELCOME AND COMFORTABLE AS WELL.

ALSO I REMEMBER YOU FROM SOMEWHERE. YOUR GAMES HAVE GLORIOUS ACTIVISION STYLE COVERS.

@brokenfingers OH SHIT I'VE BEEN RUMBLED
@DarkestKale I tried to follow Vasco and it asked me to enter my full account name and domain name and this is a weird protocol.
@DarkestKale Revelant to say here: You have to write "@ linkedoranean @ mastodon.art", but it shows up just as "@ linkedoranean". So it looks ugly while you type, but not for other people :)
@DarkestKale Oh dude, thank you! Also replying some one automatically adds the full name + instance
@DarkestKale Federated timeline is all the toots from everyone your instance knows about, which as I understand it is everyone on your instance, everyone they follow, and everyone they've boosted
@DarkestKale can you join multiple instances at once?
@DarkestKale I wonder if we can host groups on here, too? Doesn't look like it.
@LeslieGoodreid Groups/Lists have been requested on the github, and I don't know when/if they'll be put in.
