U ARE WHITE, you don't get to distance urself from that identity in social justice discourse, esp when white ppl have been the main oppressors throughout history. not saying that white ppl can't hate white ppl, but too often when i see this, they act like they ain't white themselves
this white gay person on fb just said that "white gays get so mad when you tell them that pride isn't about them" like yes that's true but the wording implies they too aren't a white gay themself, which they are. just bc ur a "socially conscious" white person does not mean that u can discard ur white identity. criticize it, but criticize it while acknowledging that that is also who u are

Even if most oppressors are white, not all white people immediately can be included in that group. There are oppressors and the oppressed. Not all (or even CLOSE to most) whites fall into the former category. I will acknowledge the privilege granted upon most of us by the primarily milky skinned oppressors though..

@thyfe the problem is that not all or even most whites are in positions of power. Oppressors are bosses, policy makers, land owners etc. Not all or even most whites fall into those catagories,
@Chris_John white ppl being oppressors is a systemic issue. yes, those positions u named have more power than most, given those who hold them are white. however, any white person can oppress minorities; oppression comes in many forms, not just from holding a position of power (microaggressions, bullying, etc). but anyways i'm tired of explaining this to u, google is free, this is basic knowledge and something i would expect a mastodon user to know, given the history behind the site's creation
