@katebowles

What could it mean?
It could mean... possibility, agency, possibility, voice, possibility, communication, possibility.

It plants the seeds of possibility.

I think it does. So I think about seed planting, and how this always involves soil preparation. How many seeds don't grow because the soil is depleted?

Critical for any powerful movement is that commitment is matched with capacity. So the current state of eg energy and time is relevant.

@14prinsp @ShorterPearson @mahabali @cogdog @daniellynds @sundilu @econproph @actualham @blamb @lauraritchie @bonstewart @clhendricksbc

I want to think a bit about how to clear time for this kind of activism, how not to be going flat out all the time, so that we can build on possibility together.

Soil time is like hiatus time. Space for thinking.

@katebowles All I know is it means something important, potentially very important to my place.

I'm thinking in the very same fashion that you're thinking. I'm worried about burnout in my space myself. Whatever we do, we need to share it.

And I'm grateful for all of you here engaged and thinking as well.

@katebowles @14prinsp @ShorterPearson @mahabali @cogdog @daniellynds @sundilu @econproph @actualham @blamb @lauraritchie @bonstewart Oh, great point about how hiatus time is needed for activism. When I'm all go go go all the time (which is usually) I don't make the time for what else is really important.

Thinking about Laura's recent post about considering how "I'm too busy" means "it's not a priority." And to reflect on our priorities.

@clhendricksbc Here's a link to the paragraph it wouldn't let you read... I saw it via a friend of a friend in LA's instagram ... how's that for a game of whispers? -or is it 6 degrees of connection? :) https://www.instagram.com/p/BO0HENODCMn/?taken-by=vytasyoga&hl=en

@lauraritchie Ah, perfect--thank you! Yes, saying that phrase makes one more likely to reflect further on priorities. I find this very important & useful for my own life where I am constantly feeling "too busy."

@14prinsp @ShorterPearson @katebowles @mahabali @cogdog @daniellynds @sundilu @econproph @actualham @blamb @bonstewart

@clhendricksbc Was thinking about it last night & sometimes I/we genuinely run out of time. I did stuff all day & had to stop to cook & eat. Can't have a family & not eat or just leave them to make toast.. human limitations, the value of hiatus time, the value of nothing time - esp when it is something, because thoughts are something.

Much to consider @14prinsp @ShorterPearson @katebowles @mahabali @cogdog @daniellynds @sundilu @econproph @actualham @blamb @bonstewart

@katebowles
I remember a convo w Amy Collier on time and activism... Will look for it

I think oppressors would love to keep us so busy day-to-day we can't stop long enough to act reflectively

@14prinsp @ShorterPearson @cogdog @daniellynds @sundilu @econproph @actualham @blamb @lauraritchie @bonstewart @clhendricksbc

@mahabali @14prinsp @ShorterPearson @katebowles @cogdog @daniellynds @econproph @actualham @blamb @lauraritchie @bonstewart @clhendricksbc Yeah, trying to figure out what that first layer looks like. If it is to be something I myself can commit to (and I would like to) I would suggest having some set times to contribute / discuss. The first layer is to collaboratively figure out more precisely what are we talking about and put together resources. How have you all been thinking about it?
@sundilu @14prinsp @ShorterPearson @katebowles @cogdog @daniellynds @econproph @actualham @blamb @lauraritchie @bonstewart @clhendricksbc i finally got round to reading Bon's post and left a comment. I keep coming back to the need for solving this human problem...rather than focusing on the digital, to focus on the humans. Using the digital to help the humans through this, while recognizing how it influences/distorts our agency, but also what power we have beyond it
