Woman posts photos talking about depression affecting her appetite and how unhealthily thin it made her. Dude commented that she should get depressed more often because she 'looked sexy' like that. Another dude defended him. Woman was rightfully outraged because fuck that shit, amirite? We get crap like that all the time and it's OLD. But no, her being angry about it for a few days was TOO MUCH, MAN. Shut up already, woman. Be quiet, woman. Learn to live with it, woman. Know your place, woman.
If you don't know the context here, it's because another instance admin also silenced her apparently because she was 'too offended'. NOPE. NOPE NOPE NOPE.
Actually, let me be more specific - silenced her entire instance, that being the new instance she made for herself to feel more comfortable and safe on.

@WelshPixie Huh. That admin is a sack of shit.

Tell him I said say if you like.

@WelshPixie are we as men really so insecure that we must defend our actions despite evidence that they are hurtful regardless? >:(

why is anyone even questioning this? this is wrong, period. let's stop arguing about that and start figuring out a reasonable way to resolve it! i'm talking to you people with the dicks!

@wxl Yup. And the whole trying to 'contain' the fallout and sweep it under the carpet is disgusting.
@WelshPixie it's the same problem i have with CWs on politics. are we really supposed to just deny our outrage?
@wxl That I can kinda understand, from the perspective of Trump for example - an administration that targets minorities and condones their harassment, and people on the targeting end of that abuse want to choose whether to see that content knowing it'll potentially dredge up a whole lot of terror. It's not so much about denying outrage as it is about protecting the sanity of the people being targeted by that administration.

@WelshPixie i can kind of understand that. i'm sure that after being harassed, ginny didn't want to deal with all the B.S. afterwards. even if it was meant to defend her and i'm somewhat guilty for that.

that said, imagine a situation where instead of saying her actions were questionable, the admin in question had decided to silence her because of the fact that she discusses the harassment and wanted to protect his users from it. there's a really fine line there i don't like.

@WelshPixie Holy fuck. I think I'm starting to get the picture.

The cybre.space admins did this?

@csilverman That's the instance that silenced the harassing instance, but also silenced HER instance - https://kitty.town/users/GinnyMcQueen/updates/201

@WelshPixie That sounds an awful lot like a company firing both the harasser and the victim because they don't like either noise or women, and smashing everything in sight handily solves the problem.

Fuck them.

That is unfortunate—I saw some of the cybre.space admins on here and they seemed like cool people.

@csilverman @WelshPixie They seem to understand where they went wrong, and I believe them that they are honestly destroyed over their own thoughts and behaviour, though.
