It's so interesting seeing all the different types of online personas people create to share with the world. So many of them seem geared towards who they are professionally. I was hoping that this platform would be more about people connecting personally, leaving their professional personas aside, but as long as there's media coverage, there will be people bringing their professional selves along too, which seems kind of sad.
@Euphoria In the end everyone is after the same goal of betterment of the self. Some find their hapiness getting their businesses out there or sharing news coverage. Others are content with just sharing thoughts that we might not feel comfortable letting out normally. As long as the message is positive and gives them a sense of fulfillment then we are all on the same path still.
@4Sight You may find this hard to believe, but some people really /are not/ interested in betterment of the self. In fact, some people are happy to find a safe, comfortable space to just be accepted as they are, whoever they happen to be at the moment without having to hide or pretend or think about the future or who they might be.
I agree about accepting people as they they are, whoever they happen to be. I'd simply prefer to keep a pure, virtual space where no one is trying to sell me things.
@Euphoria I can agree with both of those points entirely. The freedom to express oneself without judgement is paramount as well as he marketing just does not belong and seems to be the opposite of what I have come to perceive this to be
@4Sight 😺 Watching the feed now, though, I realize that there are so many computer programmers interacting here, giving each other tips and just generally networking. Of course people in all sorts of professions could have instances for doing the same thing if they want or need to without being federated to the community at large (if I understand it all correctly). Those would still be personal interactions, though regarding their profession instead of promoting it.

@Euphoria @4Sight I am instinctively looking for places where no one has to do project management.

I have enough projects on my head to engage into something structured in my so-called spare time

@saper @4Sight I believe that many people need just such an outlet.

You seem to engage here in what looks like work, Marcin, though maybe it's not work to you. ;)

@Euphoria @4Sight

really? ouch

it's work avoidance for me really

But I like my tie, thanks!

Ah, so your tie is reserved for your leisure self? Very interesting!

You're the only person I've seen wearing a tie on Mastodon so far. I suspect you're unique in other ways, too. ;)

@saper

@Euphoria that's very sweet of you, thanks!
@saper Well, I'm just guessing for now based on what I see you post (I miss a lot, I think) and our interactions. Well, and your photo, of course, which might actually be of someone else for all I know, though I suspect it's really you. :D

@Euphoria Do you know why it is amazing what you write?

The most frequent stint online is "but you have no idea who I really am! How dare you judge me!"

.. and you have simply said the reverse.

Did I say I enjoy those lovely interchanges? (I know I'm vain like hell:)

@saper Aw, you're such a dear.

I've always been a little different. I'm so glad you see it as a good thing. 🤗
