#newinstance #instances Hey everyone, https://creativity.cafe is here! It's an instance for artists and creators of any kind - painters, glitch artists, musicians, writers, sculptors, whatever! And even just enthusiasts. If you're into art-y things and want to hang with other people who are too, come join us!

@foozmeat I do this by closing registrations and manually inserting users into the DB, then having them reset their password. It's a little obnoxious, but it works for now!

@foozmeat Specifically, these two commands:

bundle exec rails console production

then once in console:

User.new(email: '<email>', password: SecureRandom.hex, confirmed_at: Time.now.utc, account_attributes: { username: '<username>' }).save

@pettter unfortunately I don't know of a way to set it up so you can peer into the local feed ... _yet_. (actually, that might be a project I could create, an instance browser - i'll let you know if I can make this!)

@personnealienee not that I know of without an account, unfortunately - instances don't expose their local timelines publicly :(
