1) ok, concentrate on what's important *and* urgent
2) ok then I need to get a bird's eye view of everything to know I'm not missing everything
3) start looking at things
4) holy shit look at all the things
5) there are too many important and urgent things now
6) curl up into a ball
7) attempt to remember training to approach gently, instead of hiding
8) procrastinate by writing this list

I suppose I should take my as-needed ativan?

My psychiatrist always likes to remind me that I have the prescription for it *because I need it* and that not using it isn't really the point.

@Danhon Right, don't psyche yourself out of taking care of yourself.

@Danhon Welcome to the club Dan, anxiety is the new contagious disease with "uncertainy" being the new catch-phrase.

Does this mean we are becoming #UncertaintyNatives ? Makes one wonder...

@Danhon I feel your pain on this. So much.
Also 👋🏼 from the late 90s/00s blogroll era, you are even cooler now than you were then :) @zannah
@Danhon this is me too.
@Floppy thank you! *hugs to you too*
@Floppy hm, I did not expect that status to leak out onto birdsite...
@Danhon dammit, sorry. I set up a reposting thing that's not working quite right. It shouldn't be doing that, especially to stuff behind a CW. I've turned it off. My deepest apologies :(
That's ok! Figured it was an accident :) @Floppy
@Danhon SAME. Down to literally curling up into a ball at one point. I'm trying to combine focusing on what's important with focusing on what I *want* to do, because burnout.
@lukasb figuring out what you *want* to do can be really difficult. Sometimes people don't understand how difficult and distressing it can be to answer the question: "what do you *want* to do?"
@Danhon yeah, definitely. In my case though it's sometimes helpful to look at a super-long todo list and just do the thing that sounds most fun.
Yes, and getting just one thing done in that list already starts to help you feel more competent and into the flow of doing things and out of being stuck. Good tactic :) @lukasb
@Danhon Lists can be good. No matter how important/urgent everything seems to be, you still can't do everything at once.
@Danhon oh god I think I've been cycling through this list twice a day for a long time now
@Danhon i find it helpful to cuddle with dogs, that's my step between your 7 and 8. ideally it would replace step 6 but...
