Since Mastodon is open source, someone please fork it and replace TOOT! with something—anything!—else.
@samplereality Welcome to the new, improved fork of Mastodon, here at Slitheen.social....
@samplereality Several of the instances already have alternatives to that verb.
@tinysubversions Yeah, this is where I get confused though. I need to make a separate account on those instances? And then add all my friends again, and they have to find me again?
@samplereality yes. It's like email. Changing email addresses sucks, best you can do is set up an auto responder for now. I am sure that there will be software developed soon to handle forwarding though.
@samplereality @tinysubversions I can't work on my bot now, but I'll try to do something over the weekend. I'm convinced that my BlakeBot failed on Twitter b/c of Blake's repetition and his run-ons.
@rogerwhitson @tinysubversions Pretty easy to adapt a Twitter bot to Mastodon using the mastodon.py module. I suggest using Darius's method for getting your bot's OAuth credentials: https://tinysubversions.com/notes/mastodon-bot/index.html. After that it's like 4 additional lines of code in your existing Twitter bot.
@samplereality seems easy enough, why not do it yourself?
@samplereality You could just throw together a Chrome extension to do this to ;)
@samplereality You could always move to the https://sealion.club/ instance where it's "barks", "sniffs", and "whinnies".
