How about:
Ask hackerspaces to run #Mastodon instances for their own internal communication and share them with the world (if possible).
@cypherpunk Warsaw Hackerspace is probably going to be on-board. ;)
@cypherpunk Haven't persuaded them yet but at least 4 of our members are already using it. So it might just be a question of time (and evaluation). :)
@phryk Also instances on darknets and outside "fourteen eyes" countries
If possible.
Luckily, I am outside of them, and also member of local hackerspace, will do my best.:sunglasses:
@cypherpunk But for mastodon on the darknet you might want a whitelist of servers to federate with instead of a blacklist. Otherwise stuff might leak into the public web via federation…
@phryk So one alone wouldn't work, I mean it would defeat the purpose of federated social network, right?
@cypherpunk Yeah. The hard part is probably figuring out which other darknet instances are trustworthy enough to federate with. Or at least not also available on the public web…
@phryk Oh, yeah. U right.
My idea was more about using mastodon with Tor, but to avoid ( potentially ) bad Tor Exits. )
@cypherpunk I don't know Tor well enough.^^ Traffic to (and from) .onion sites does not go through exit nodes?
@phryk As fa as I know that is how it works.
