Maybe I asked that too late, if you're not ready for the next episode, that's too bad! Because here it is!

YATP Ep. 008: What It Takes To Be A Programmer

Today I make an attempt at tackling the basic things that are needed to understand how to be a programmer and how to program. I start off with a different angle and then work into the fundamentals of

@BNolet this seems awesome! :)

Some suggestions:
- drop the intro music

- A podcast about sysadmin-ing, maybe?

Off topic suggestions:

- Volunteer for Librivox :)

@miwilc Thanks Michael! I appreciate the feedback.

Intro Music: I like a little bit of an intro to the podcast besides me screaming in someone's ear "WHAT'S UP EVERYONE?" XD, what would suggest in that case if I was to change the music? It needs to be somewhat upbeat.

SysAdmin-ing: I do love to SysAdmin :) What kind of topics would you like to see in that field of interest?

@miwilc
And y'know, Librivox actually sounds like something I'd REALLY love. I just need to buy a compressor before-hand.

If I get REALLY expressive (which I know I will) my volume will be painstaking to fix in post, especially if I'm spending hours and hours recording a full audiobook.

Do you know the limitations on the kinds of books I can record?

@BNolet you can take up any kind of book you like, provided it is in the public domain.

You should check the wiki articles on contributing/recording/proof listening.

I don't think any _uses_ a compressor (alteast I think so, I could be wrong)

Audacity can take care of the static noises ect.
(There can some forum plugins to extend audacity as well.)

@BNolet also, you can specify the estimated time (of finishing), so you can can do a chapter a day (or less if you wish) which takes around 30 mins, so there is basically no rush.

@miwilc I'm pretty versed in Audacity at this point, and I mean if I have to do public domain books, I'm not really that interested anymore :/

Open-Source books are pretty cool but I'd rather spend my time editing a podcast than an audiobook.

I appreciate the suggestion though!
