Welcome to #fediverseFriday:

Topics:
- introduce ppl to each other #followFriday #ff

- #discourse about improvmentns of the #fediverse

- reflection about our #culture here

- advice tipps and tricks around the fediverse

I'll start with
#ff
@Antanicus talks about current events and politics

@javalucy <--boosted nice stuff ;-)

@[email protected] ( queer anarchist buddhist engineer )

@Curator curates #MastoART and creative thoughts for th'Fediverse

What could be better from the culture side:

- understanding the value of others work
- using and supporting already existing resources
- working together on "how can we the improve the #fediverse as best", instead of being "one plattform focused"

Example:
Some years ago #diaspora thoght of using #loomio as a tool to make desicions for the fediverse, while this plattform is build for group desicions not networks, and being centralized.

Many ppl where through that cut off from the conversations. Cause why should someone join a loomio group if knowing it's a bad idea.

Also they have choosed #discourse as a forum as #mastodon did. Again it cut's a lot of ppl form paricipating.

@paulfree14 why do you think it cuts of people?
@fla because I asked ppl.
those who have a high value for federated systems often don't join meta conversations happening on centralized plattforms.
From their perspective it doesn't make any sense to do so.
You develope a federated plattform to improve communication but for your own communication you choose the popular plattforms.
In their eyes that's just ignorant and that's why they don't join in.
@fla when comes to #loomio there might be also some other reasons:
It's a majority voting mashine.
you'll cut of some anarchists.
...there are different methods of finding a desicion.
When it comes to plattform development it's not clever having majority ruling (I.think it's never clever)
But what you want is all the different arguments well documented and visualized

@paulfree14 @fla
ah nice I see you're a #diaspora dev.
So fist thx for all the effort you put in!

Could you may tell me the reasons for choosing #discourse over #hubzilla.

@paulfree14 @paulfree14 we didn't evaluate hubzilla for this usage, I honestly don't know the software well. Discourse is a very good application used by many communities so we know it is robust.
Hubzilla does have a forum feature right? That's why you asked?

@paulfree14 @fla
yes it has a forum. :)
There are some things which should be improved, but it's full functioning forum.

...also when talking to mike he told that there have been conversations in the past happening. So ppl known about but choosed different.

Yes. discource is a great forum software. But it really doesn't fit for federated network talks, as it just cuts of those developing federated forums.
...which are well funtioning.

@paulfree14 @fla also having more talks through federated forums would bring in more feedback and dev. to improve.
...hubzilla is still very unpopular, as many ppl mainly go for the popular solutions.
