Let me be explicit. The massive heat waves we're seeing around the world more extreme and frequent due to human-caused #climatechange. And these heat waves are going to continue to worsen because of our failure to reduce carbon pollution. Just one of the many costs of #climate change.

@petergleick I'll never forget a science teacher who explicitly told me he was legally required to show us propaganda that claimed global warming was a natural phenomenon, actually, said to us after the film when kids regurgitated other propaganda pieces they saw, "Even if warming is just part of a natural cycle, you can't convince me that all this crap we've been putting in the air is doing nothing."

The most beneficial and climate resilient measures are the least expensive: walkable communities and localized farming. Restoring water basins achieve multiple things at once: resilience, decoupling and a safer, healthier, more prosperous, and affordable community.

@petergleick Hi so apparently here in Switzerland the traintracks are breaking due to simple heat expansion. Not great, leads to a less reliable public transport net and an increased cost in maintenance. Well the thing is, we'll be able to afford it. But just imagine a country that is already struggling with money for infrastructure, struggling with political unrest, corruption and social injustice to a much higher degree. The people least responsible for climate change btw.
