Hello Mastodon.Radio! I’m not new to Mastodon, but I’m new to #HamRadio. I think I need a different type of account to communicate with the ham radio folks on Mastodon, so give me a bit to settle in and get my profile set up.

I’m in Southwest Missouri, and I just passed my general. I’ll go for my Extra in a year or so, it’s time to stop taking tests and get on the air. I’ve got my rig, and I’m hoping field day will get me some experience setting up.

Congrats! General, as you likely figured out, gives you All But slivers of 4 HF bands so it's both a good target for newbies and a good resting point before going on.

You are in the hobby at a great time when radios like the QMX+ are in the $150 range *and it has competitors*. Just so much fun stuff happening!
