We introduce two novel SAR vegetation indices, RVVI and RSVI, specifically developed for forest ecosystems and tree canopy structure. Both indices outperform established SAR vegetation indices and enable cloud-independent monitoring of forest vegetation dynamics and photosnthetic capacity using Sentinel-1 data.
