The new car is infuriating. #Volkswagen decided to change the way door handles work, because clearly for 120 years the design was wrong. Now to get children to exit the car, I have to stop the car, get out walk around to their side, sacrifice a goat, pray to the moon gods, pull twice on the handle and cast an incantation. Or maybe some other order. 🤬 #id7
As soon as you sit down in the driver's seat, the key fob door lock/unlock stops working. The buttons on the door don't do shit. Opening the back door via reaching and opening only works if someone is not in the back seat. The front passenger can only open the door by pulling on the handle twice. It's just layer upon layer of shit design decisions. I have zero faith that passengers could get out in the event of an accident. #Volkswagen #id7
Opening a car door shouldn't be as complex as programming a Roland 303. #volkswagen #id7
@feijoa does any of this help? Sounds frustrating (but also something a dealership might be able to help with as it doesn't sound like it's supposed to be doing that). I did find something that it takes 4-5 seconds for any changes to the electronic locks to change (such as the child locks) before it can be opened from outside (which doesn't seem ideal). https://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?t=2106138
@fak Unfortunately not. I've found some weirdnesses that I can resolve (Android Auto hijacks some car behaviours), but this is a set of design decisions that together combine into an unholy mess.
