It's #ExeterPride today, and #ExeterLibrary has been subjected to a targeted complaint campaign for hosting some Pride events (a children's flag making workshop and a couple of queer literature workshops) https://web.archive.org/web/20260509061017/https://www.devonlive.com/news/devon-news/exeter-pride-event-organisers-subjected-10955668.
There does seem a be an organised campaign or series of campaigns going on at the moment to import US style right wing culture wars campaigning into the UK that being exposed to anything other than heterosexuality is child abuse, and it's scary how much traction it seems to be getting.

What a fascinating story. It suggests that there is a correlation between the closures of bars-tabac (coffee shop/tobacco shop) and the rise of right-wing party sentiment in rural communities, and that party support can be reversed by reopening bars-tabac.
This suggests that social/communal spaces reduce hateful programming. Maybe people who are lonely tend to feel disempowered and left behind, and thus are more susceptible to messages that blame some out-group for the way they feel.
