#SalemMA and #BeverlyMA - #StyrofoamRecycling Event – Save Your Styrofoam!

Saturday, June 20, 2026, 10:00 AM – 1:00 PM

Community Life Center, 401 Bridge St, Salem, MA

"Salem and Beverly partner once again to host Styrofoam Collection Day on Saturday, June 20, 2026, from 10:00am – 1:00pm. Hold on to your foam, as Casella (formerly Save that Stuff) will collect it to recycle! This is a drive-through event at the Community Life Center, 401 Bridge St, Salem, MA. Residents of Salem and Beverly may participate.

"Please bring only rigid, white, expanded #polystyrene (#Styrofoam). No packaging peanuts or food service containers, such as meat trays, clamshells, or Styrofoam cups can be accepted. While Styrofoam cannot be recycled curbside, Casella has densifiers that can process the material for recycling. We’re excited to offer residents a way to sustainably dispose of their Styrofoam! At this event, we will also be collecting #StringLights and #ExtensionCords for recycling."

@DoomsdaysCW Nice! Man, last time I moved I had so much of that stuff to get rid of. Looked up where I could recycle it online, but every place I tried I would pull up and ask and hear some version of "oh sorry they discontinued that program years ago"...was driving that stuff around for weeks before I gave up and most of it got landfilled...there does not seem to be *anywhere* that'll take it down here in RI :(
@admin Yeah, I'm running into similar issues here in Maine. I'm hoping our town can figure out either a hazardous household waste day or team up with other towns to safely dispose of stuff. As it is, I would have to schlepp stuff 20 miles away and pay per pound (which adds up quickly). No wonder folks keep stuff in their garages or dump it illegally. 🙁
