Rural Ontario fighting a losing battle. I haven't been here recently, but because there is money and a government that doesn't care about people, let alone those in rural areas, I imagine it's a done deal. The island is known for its beautiful nature, so wind turbines will absolutely affect that. In these areas, it's a battle between those who with profit and those who won't but have to put up with what those who profit decide to do.

@CStamp I certainly hear you (and them) on wanting to protect Manitoulin Island's natural beauty, but the idea that there are legitimate health concerns about wind turbines is horsefeathers.

@ZenHeathen As someone affected by noise, if the sound is enough to affect those living around them, then the lack of sleep & being on edge does affect health. People used to quiet will be more affected than city folk.

There is a house across the street that was turned into a water pumping station & when we first moved in, it was really quiet. They did work on it, now it constantly makes a hum that does keep me awake, so if a lot of these are installed, I have a lot of empathy for the people.

@CStamp Hmm. Sound. I hadn't considered that, because I've never been close enough to one to hear anything at all. I stand corrected. That's a complaint about them I've not encountered before.
