You can go pretty much wherever you want on publicly owned land in the US but I am afraid that something like a free to roam law that applied broadly* would just encourage republicans to sell off that land to private owners faster. ā€œWell you will still have ā€˜access’ to it.ā€ Later… ā€œThat fence is there for your protection.ā€

  • Many states like Colorado already have laws that protect the right to traverse private lands that cross known passes between public lands but that does not extend to areas that are wholly private.
