On the train and four older (60+) people are having a nice little grumble about how annoying it is that there's always AI at the top of search results and it's usually wrong.

@503bartley @GeofCox @david_chisnall I've been trying Qwant recently, and it seems very good indeed.

You do need to switch off their AI, but it's really simple and easy to do --> go to settings, and ensure that the AI settings switch is deactivated. As it's the very first setting you see, it's v easy.

I do tell people. Problem: same people don't know how to change search engines, much less, in that case, create a new one to change to... On a train, one might have time to change all their phones for them, but irl, there are not enough hours in a day to de-enshitify all the rampant enshitification capitalism hath wrought :-(
