The deal will combine the Murdoch family's media assets, which include its news, sports and broadcast channels, with the San Jose-based streaming platform company that reaches 100 million consumers globally.

@ai6yr Now I have to figure out what to replace my Roku with. Definitely not Apple TV.
@Thorium @ai6yr Such a pain in the ass. So tired of having to monitor every purchasing decision for whether some evil billionaire benefits.

@Thorium

@ai6yr
Same :(
Maybe Nvidia shield?

@wakingrufus @ai6yr That seems the most likely choice to me. It's a shame that it's a bit pricey. Also a shame that product choices come down to which company is the least evil. This timeline sucks.

@Thorium @ai6yr

SBC / mini-PC with Kodi & *arr stack?

#Kodi #ArrStack

@klu9 @ai6yr Definitely a possibility. Just started looking around. Thanks for the suggestion.

@Thorium @ai6yr There seems to be no non-evil option if you actually want online streaming stuff.

Though it does seem it's possible to get service TVs and such (albeit kind of hard to track down. You have to use the right search terms.) You can still buy separate streaming units to connect to them so at least they don't have absolute knowledge of literally everything you do. Just everything you do through them...
