Has anyone tried starting "Good King Henry" (Blitum bonus-henricus) from seed with success?

I got some seeds and put them in a pot weeks ago without anything sprouting.

Any tips I'm missing?

@leeleedee never planted what you ask about. Just wanted to mention my experience with germination: if it's not going well I've missed some conditions.
Blitum bonus-henricus seems to be considered tricky, and it's no surprise given many requirements - seeds need to be chilled for a few days before sowing, germination temperature is 20-22C, and it requires light, hence surface sowing.
Given temperature and surface sowing, it seems keeping it moist may also be tricky.
@leeleedee just noticed Wikipedia mentions 9 weeks of cold stratification at 4C. oof

@RakowskiBartosz Woah! ok, so maybe it is best to wait until late winter, early spring then.

Oh well, at least it's an excuse to do some winter gardening - even if it is just watering and checking each day :P

@RakowskiBartosz @leeleedee Seems like it should be put on the ground in say late winter / early spring, and then it will grow when temperature rises and the earth get warm. Probably to late for Danish climate to start now.

@stigcq @RakowskiBartosz Yep! Seems to be the case! I will save the rest of the seeds I have until next winter and try again!

Thanks!

@leeleedee @stigcq I'd put few seeds into the fridge for a week, and tried germinating them on a sunny windowsill, or under a plastic water bottle cloche.
