German chocolate maker #RitterSport says they keep selling to Russia. "[We cannot] only supply countries that behave 100 percent in accordance with our morals,” says CEO Ronken.

Strange because this is the same guy who said this about why he became CEO:

"...we are, of course, targeting China and Russia, which are currently our biggest growth markets. [...] My personal view is that family companies are... more values-oriented.... All of this freedom depends on the support of the family, which has been at the helm of Ritter Sport for three generations. 'This is why I’ll always try to work for a family company'".

German family alignment with Russian values.

Pure pleasure: Andreas Ronken

Guided by three generations of strong family values, Andreas Ronken has led the German chocolate maker Ritter Sport to be an organisation committed to sustainability and rapid experimentation, even as it expands its footprint across the globe.

The CEO Magazine

I think I'll write it up because that CEO just got fired and the staff laid off by the family, proving that 2024 "we have to do business in Russia to keep staff paid" was all bullshit.

2024: we promise no new investment in the Russian market, advertising halted, profits donated (with no accountability). keeps jobs.

2026: ritter-sport.ru runs new-product launches, a "try the new Italian biscuit and coffee" campaign, a bright-new multicolored dragée, a limited collection, a where-to-buy locator, and a careers page, all wired to Yandex. huge layoffs.

This may as well be a Russian company.

@flyingpenguin I think they call it "sport" as a euphemism for run-of-the-mill, not fine. A regular Hershey bar has more flavor.
@tasket it was 1932 branding about being a stimulant shaped to fit in your "sport" pocket
